Proton i.CARE centralized customer service system

google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);
Proton has launched it’s new Proton i.Care service, a customer service program that will cover every aspect of Proton’s customer service offerings.
“All Proton customer service offerings will now fall under the Proton i.Care umbrella. From hotline to 24-hour breakdown services to after-sales service centres, Proton i.Care will be the single point of contact, serving as the companion for customers. Internally, it can be likened to a customer management centre that is ever thoughtful, friendly, humble and committed to improve and grow,” said Proton managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.
Proton will also set up 34 mobile service teams consisting of 108 technicians to offer free vehicle inspection to customers. These teams will be going to shopping malls, industrial parks, business centres, highway rest areas, and Petronas petrol stations.

Good effort by MD SZ, hopefully they walk the talk. But the idea of mobile service team is kinda non-practical for free vehichle inspection at shopping mall, petrol stations or industrial parks as it may need to carry along certain equipments to do so!

p1 is trying to change its immage of quality & services to the public, even it is a litle too late but still a good move. on the other hand, new model need to be launched asap, without new products to boost up its sales, quality & services is meaningless.
Aril said,

We as Malaysian must support our own product what ever it is. dont buy if feel not good, But give support for better enhance, complaint if feel not comfort…so they will slowly upgrade….Example..Proton Waja…P. Window Issue slowly solve.

Not to flame, but just want to clarify few thing.
Aril, power window issue has being going out since 2000/01. So as u mention issue resolved, i believe its these few years back. Maybe the facelift version, a version before Campro version introduced. I assume around Yr 06. The “slowly” took about 4/5 years to rectify meanwhile competitor could came out replacement model.
Indeed, i.care sound good to me as P1 trying to make improvement. However you could blame other as most of us have lost faith with P1.

Proton have to make sure all its service center provide the same service as planned in the origramme to customer!!!
I had change my wira handle for 4 times in 1.5 years.. every time i change it, the price is totally different.. first charging is about RM75, then 95, 85 and 92.. (including the paint).
the service center is the same, why the price is fluctuating???or i getting cheat???

how many chances do you want to give to Proton? after 20 years++ what do Proton contribut to our motor industry, to the people. I didnt expect a car company to start up and run like a horse, you crawl but Proton never grew up. then how? what happen to the ‘tak apa ‘ attidude? do you think this Proton people really doing thing to provide better services/products for ‘the people’? actually not it is only how they can squeeze ‘the people’ dry. proton and the G never care about ‘the people’ they only care about their profit as long as the people forced to buy proton and the crocs driving CBU Luxury cars with AP’s.

As for the free inspection, during proton carnival that held in Shah Alam last month had free inspection with free in car fire extinguisher. If you ever read newspaper, you wouldn’t ask “Where is it?”. as for why different SC have different price, for 1st, is that SC a dealer SC or official Proton/Eon SC? there’s difference, n tat’s wat proton screw up some how. Price different is from the owner of the dealer SC. For tat, u can blame Proton for not unify their SC. now you have i.Care, if any user have any complain, just call. And if you want to know where they will have free inspections, just call and ask. 1-300-880888

I dont understand why people who hate proton need to change their nationality, actually it is Proton is main culprit of this pure insult of human motor industry. the world most expensive car which equal to rotten product.‘USD 15000 FOR A CRAP METAL JOINT TOGETHER WITH WHEELS aka WAJA’
Proton is not good enough to be called a Msian produc, just like Msian football team doesnt have the dignity to don Msian jerseys.
Another insult for other Msian, yes we are celebrating our 50 th Merdeka celebration but we do not need two defeats with asme margin5-0 , 5-1 can spot the numbers 50 years mean defeat 5-0.
Malaysia doesnt need to have own car make, as well doesnt need to become a host. err..very embarassing host like Proton rotten products.

It is a brave attempt at relieving customers with after-sales service and reassurance. I’m not saying it would work..but all the best to them.
What I can say bout them is at least they’re trying. Seems the money consumers put into the cars are at least going somewhere (thats if this service is free of course)
1)
One thing i noticed bout reading the comments above. I feel it is very rude to tell people to “return to their grandpa’s country” and “change nationality”. Don’t forget that Bumiputeras here in Malaysia all originated from somewhere else too. So please bear in mind that that statement projected a racist thought. I find it very offensive.
2)
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Some may drop a nice comment and some may complain but if the product is bad they should have all the rights to rationally discuss about it (with real facts of course, not mindless ramble)
I personally have had ok and bittersweet experiences with my Protons and if this service can really prove itself useful and beneficial, my next SOS call will be to them. Don’t say I never gave them a chance to prove themselves.

First of all, we are all Malaysians and we would like to see Malaysia progress in everyway we venture into. To ask another fellow Malaysian to go back to own grandpa country is very rude and so unMalaysian. However, I also I agree that those who have lost faith in Proton (I am one of them), should not have ditched p1 into the drain just like that. I am in fact kind of impressed with the reforms made since the new management so far. Can anyone tell me that there is no changes? I don’t think so. There are indeed changes but the reforms are not fast and efficient enough to remove all the past mistakes or change the rakyat’s poor perception of p1. I think the new management deserves our support or rather our sympathy. Who wouldn’t want to be proud of our own country’s product and services? =)

How about free service?
How about free change of defective parts (those suppose lifespan not limited to warranty period, e.g. pwer window shall be more than 5 years instead on average it is 1 year)?
As usual, like to come out with rosy news - hope it is genuine not “hot-hot chicken shit only” (hangat-hangat taik ayam). Don’t tell me after two month, the 24 hour hot-line also no one pick up or “tiada dalam perkhidmatan”!

Ur gaji is low, only a few thounsands a month, but P1 car like Waja cost RM60k, u loan 9 years which is almost RM600-700 a month. not to remember the fuel, house loan, ur GF or wife and also ur mouth.. U pay so much for a car which quality sucks, spoilt all the time, wasting ur time n ur money for so long.. dont u think u wanna bash P1? If u own 1 P1 like wira then u will know.. Most ppl who bash P1 is the customer who used before P1 products.. I used from P1 saga, iswara, Wira n Waja.. I can tell u the most proud car i drive is SAGA. The rest sucks!

LittleFire..I own (coz I paid off) 3 Proton type & I find no faultiness. My co’s Proton also no problem. Boy was I lucky for not buying Korean made car like my bro in law & frens. Hell lots of problem..adding the parts is hell lots of expensive & the Hyundai & Kia car gonna to say in garage for hell lot of months coz no parts avaialble. Worst is only 3 years +. No to mention my unlucky fren who bought 2nd hand City now suffers as he has to pay for Gear problem in cash amounting RM27K.
So u tell me..LittleFire just spend what u can afford so u have no complaint there. Present Protons (since 2006 model) has not much problem lately. If u cannot afford one Continental car or Japs, just simply hope Proton improved. If u cannot afford Waja, so stick with Saga lah. As said u r lucky chap u didnt get Koreans or Continental then,,u go burst then. FC for Koreans lagi expensive.Imagine Waja RM60K compared to City RM79K. RM19K differences u can save up for minor repair that couldnt cost more than RM1K.THINK & be RATIONALE.
Noticeable, there is growing number of Proton fans lately , speak of the improvisation of its credential & reputation.

Now they got airbag, ABS, EDB, etc because P1 are force by market force to provide these features in order for their products to be saleable. What all these ABS or airbag thingy is already enjoy by consumers for other brand within same range, and to be more specific P1 already provide this feature to export market long ago!
The only thing they know how to do in the past is how to squeeze consumers dry with low quality but relatively high price car! Now they learn the mistake for taken for granted as treated bolehland consumers unfairly as it is well known facts NAP make it become captured market for P1.
MD SZ initiative is laudable, but since bolehland consumers not bitten once, but for the past 20 years++. It is time for P1 to get backlash from the consumers, and P1 deserve for it for what they have done to consumers in the past. It is a big task for P1 to repair this seem irreparable damage and about consumers pessismistic perception toward P1!

Aril,
Actually, just because some of us chose not support Proton because of their past mistakes doesn’t mean we should change our nationality! You are just like that pesky Nor fella.
People criticized Proton because for 20 years plus, they conned our hard-earned money with poor quality cars (some even caught fire). If 1 or 2 years, many will still give chance to Proton. But, 20 years? No way… I rather spend a little bit more and rest assured my car will run for the next 5-10 years. Example is my 18-year old Mitsubishi Galant Super Saloon. After that long, the power window still works! Try that on my bro’s ‘07 Gen2… replaced twice in 6 months!
So, national product or not… if it doesn’t deliver, people will lose faith. If a national product delivers, people will support it. Just like the Koreans. They love their cars so much until they criticize makes from Germany and Japan. True enough. Koreans can build and deliver quality cars and very low cost. Can Proton do this? My take? Nah! Maybe another 20 years of protection, they may *improve*.
Remember this… being patriotic doesn’t mean u need to support your own product (especially a flawed one). You can always support other things like pushing the Government to introduce BioDiesel (made from local palm oil) to all petrol stations by end of 2007. Or perhaps, offer customers an option to convert regular petrol-powered cars to hybrid or full electric. I’m in for full electric. Why? A full charge only costs RM 5 to last up to 300kms. This way, TNB will have supplement income to overcome any price hike in the future.
By right, all GLCs should be allowed to introduce alternative fuel cars. Example:
TNB: EV (electric vehicles)MPOB: BioDieselPetronas: NGV
But, seriously… I don’t think they even bothered because alternative fuel will kill off Petronas.

So you can expect this small2 problem that their are still improve it. U dont know people who work in the service center.. Haiz, 10k++ for a new gearbox.. Why p1 spare part is cheap, is not the new 1, but from chop shop! anyone here know that the chop shop secondhand quality are more better then P1! Ask them, anyone here still using OEM proton absorber? Even engine, gearbox all swap with mitsubishi! Why korea spare parts are expensive, coz only one ppl monopoly the market, no chop shop from korea. P1 is cheap coz a lot of competitors n fakes! Ok, see ur brother WAJA at his dashboard, i bet they are paints already gone! 1 word proton, cheap quality, high price to earn more! Proton survive becoz of mitsubishi n chop shop, if not they more die earlier! Even my Wira swap wif GSR turbo before! but coz got gf, swap 4G93 SOHC auto for her to drive.. until now no problem.. 5 years ago.. 4g15p SOHC caburater, FC sucks, no pickup, casket sentiasa pecah makan air, coil rosak, power window rosak.. bla bla bla.. Swap mitsubishi half-cut, power more, adjustable absorber, FC more better, dashboard good quality, auto air-con.. Where u got all this from P1?
If proton so great, why they want VW to collaborate wif them?!? VW coming in, means that proton is losing the market! If proton so successful, i think he is the one who is buying VW share, but not otherwise! The market already shown what proton is! Aril, u just kena smokescreen by them! LOL!
xstan, ur friend city second hand gearbox only sell RM3k at chop shop. Even buy new also dont have warranty, why not buy a secondhand or fix it at gearbox factory near selangor? U buy a new P1 car from 2006, so wait for another 3 years and c! I bet ur interior quality will deteriorate first fast! especially WAJA dashboard! My wira also after 3 years problem starting to come, not mention most P1 car problem come after 3-5 years! That why they put 5 years warranty! Anyway, 19k difference is more compare the time u went into mechanic shop, FC sucks. N one more thing to tell u, waja depreciation is more then Vios. for 03′ vios still selling RM60k (20k less), 03′ Waja only left RM30k (30k less).. Well i think ur 19k is a lot of difference, when add the money on wear n tear and reselling value?
Anywayz ur friend buy korean cars are stupid, coz korean car second value sucks! Haha, KIA spectra 06′ now only sell RM36k LOL! See how much u lost! almost 50% gone! Only 1 car which FC is good from Korea, new sonata with CVVT. I am a car salesman, mechanic for more then 5 years before, so who seen more cars then anyone here? Even porsche GT2, Evo9, subaru impreza n jaguar XJ i have drive before..
Even Volvo, merc got ppl patrol to fix their car if got problem on spot.. P1? 24-hour breakdown services? Naa.. just ask kereta tunda to drag ur car into the service shop n let those armature mechanic to fix ur car the next day.. Anyone want to bet wif me, if this is not the reality?

Aril is blatantly insulting. A little more manners would be very much appreciated. It’s not nice to call someone a little girl, i’m quite sure there are much more polite things to say.
Actually having a centralized customer service system may in fact be a good idea, but the point is, is the implementation going to be satisfactory? A lot of times the idea is great but the implementation is absolutely rubbish. For a change, I actually would like to see this work out.
BTW auto trans aren’t bad if you bother to take care of them.
I would buy proton IF they had a model that was a looker, with performance, and reliability, but even Mercedes had a QC problem some years ago with the E-Class.

i.care = i don’t care kot.I booked my LMST, 4 months d still can’t confirm the delivery date.Called i.care, to my suprice, delivery system by proton edar is based on fair allocation. They told me each outlet is allocated a number of cars a month, so it’s fair to all. Is it fair to customer? Delivery should be base on First In First Out basis right? Don’t tell me you can’t do that, all you need is a PC and internet connection.

Aril, this is an automotive blog, for discussing matters relating to such. If you want to engage in racist trolling and demonstrate your poor understanding of both history and basic manners, maybe you should take some of your own advice and go elsewhere.
As for Proton’s plan, it’s a good idea in theory, they will need to invest seriously in it however and not do it just for show. It has the potential to improve their image, but if they don’t do it right it will backfire embarassingly.

Aril, Joe two of you have great views perhaps i suggest!!!
ARIL you should work in proton in R & D or wat so ever stop all, hopefully one day JOE will come to you and tell you “Yes P1 has improved, and asking you for a discount to buy the upcoming model?” isn’t that problem solved?
I personally think is not the P1 fault, is the all P1 partnerships suck like hell and great “vacuum” (suck a lot water) to produce a so-called new power system for waja,(in year 99/00 before launching it) n see now what has gone wrong??, P1 just never care their quality, they
NEVER HAVE
THE QUALITY & SKILLS TO DEVELOPED IN R&D…….
Everything new product in this world need R&D (Research & Development) then testing and market it… If P1 really wish to go on their own, perhaps should find themselves some good engineers and researcher. Is never gonna be cheap to test and fail n test n fail then research it takes time n manpower as well.
So i suggest should P1 MD or the G think of JV with currently VW to abstract their technologies n skills into P1, at least some reliable manufacturers n get some new partnerships, like WAJA headlights from AL great light, and the bulbs from Philips great bulbs, n etc….
GET MORE RELIABLE PARTS & PRODUCTS MANUFACTURER IF POSSIBLE DESIGN YOUR OWN (P1) make sure is up to standard!
Safety & Intelligence systems e.g. ABS, AIRBAG, EDB, all these has been decades STANDARD features to install in a car. Just like your airconditioning system. WHO WILL BUY A CAR WITHOUT AIR-COND IN M’SIA. Just to cut some cost to give Msian a chance to own their national Car, so all these features are not installed. Agree?
RM looking good? Not P1 looking good! you Not the MD in or the powerful G what can u do with the quality or pricing the product? Who doesn’t want to earn more?
TO ALL OF YOU WHO DRIVE A PROTON (also who’s not) found in saga,wira,waja,gen2,neo, n perdana not sure…n savvy also not sure… sick of such a design for a car….
LOOK UP YOUR THE SIDE OF YOUR WHEEL WHERE YOU PUMP PETROL IN…. YOU FIND THE PIPE OF YOUR PETROL GOES IN THE TANK….. INTERESTING?

Aril,
Who said auto gearbox must change oil every year? If like that, gearbox kaput already, U must change ATF (auto transmission fluid) every 20,000kms for normal driving or 15,000kms for hard driving (especially turbo-charged cars).I change ATF almost 5 times in 1 year.
As for Campro… I’m sure Proton can improve it but they are taking too long to do it. If like this, how to make money and survive? In business, the longer u take to do R&D, the faster your competitors will kill u. However, since Proton is 100% protected by G… they don’t have to worry… AT ALL!
I’ve studying the S4PH for some time now and some how, somewhere… it looks exactly like a 4G92! Heck, even the mounting position is the SAME!

Let’s hear some feedbacks from those who experienced i.care service after sometimes.———————–For today dated 17 July 07., PT blog put up photos with 1 + 8 guys from P1 give “BIG SENYUM KAMBING” for their launch of i.Care!
There are at least 3 likely scenarios: -
After sometimes, say few months down the road, one of the likely scenario is: -
When call i.Care 24 hour hotline - “Harap maaf, nombor yang anda dial sudah ditamatkan perkhidmatan”!
So no feedbacks dude!
Another scenario is: -
What you hear feedback from the i.Care is not from the customers, but the mechanics who handle it - “aiya, banyak kerja dan konsumer banyak bising 1001 macam masalah ….. bla, bla, bla … tak tahan lah kerja kat sini tiap-tiap hari kasi konsumer screw backside upside-down saja tu”
Hopeful scenario is: -
“The i.Care centre perform their task with full dedication and professionalism in serving the consumers up to their highest expectation!”

acbc, yup u get it right! But for the P1 service center they only change auto gear oil after 40′000KM! Well, sucks man.. When the oil drain out, is dark like chocolate.. That why last time P1 Auto gearbox so many problem.. Why our car need more faster change.. Is the climate, we r in tropical country which is hot n cold.. lubricant cant stand for high temperature.. That why in African or arabian countries they often change their lubricant.. The manual P1 get is from Japan, they are more cooler then us; that why their car can last longer then us..
Anywayz the 4g92 n S4ph is almost the same.. just the wiring/ignition system is not the same. S4ph use 2 independent coil, while 4g92 use only 1 distributer coil. If got 2 coil, means more better power to the plug, so in return more better ignition+FC. Anywayz SOHC 4g92 have 2 different version 1 is on the left side n right side mouted.. The old 1 is right side mouted (gearbox at left side).. P1 wira is using the old version, while in Japan they already mouted on the left side due to stability problem.. for the S4PH is mouted on the right side if i not mistaken.. This is done becoz the Auto gearbox normally are more heavier then the engine, that why they are putting the engine on the driver side to stable the car on cornering.. This is what i heard from my senior mechanic (maybe is wrong information, just for reference)..
Anywayz aril, i already sold that GSR turbo.. so no more show off.. T.TAnywayz if u want to modified to auto, use the SOHC 4g93 engine blok with 4g92 piston head.. The torque is high man, even go over ipoh highway hill also no problem, i tested without putting down my O/D off.. totally a breeze.. If manual i would prefer DOHC engine..

__________________________________________________________________________
Prem3377, bashers will always be bashers. The question is, whether they bash sensibly or just simply practice mindless bashing. From what i observe nowadays, the bashers at Paul Tan are sensible enough. Their rambles are usually based on their bad experiences with their Protons, and i’m talking bout old Protons here (possibly before Syed Zainal’s era). We can’t blame them though. However, this is where a service like Proton’s i-Care can play a role and probably make them realize that Proton are trying to ‘pujuk’ their customers back. For me, if its true that they’ll be going around in shopping malls, i’ll definitely ask them to go check on my car, just to observe their service.

The weirdest thing about common failures is that it varies cars vary. Sometimes the later batches have more failures than the first batches. I guess it all depends on which batch had some things that weren’t up to quality or just plain bad luck.

Prem3377,
Yes. First incident was due to improper installation at factory. However, I suspect his ‘07 Gen2 is not even made in 2007. More like 2006 model left to baked under the hot sun at Glenmarie which also explains why some of the plastic interiors started to fall off after 2 months of usage.
And 2nd incident was due to faulty motor. In both incidents, they are covered by warranty. Then again, u need to call the service centre and make an appointment so they can order the spare parts for u in advance.
Pls note, even my sister’s MyVi (1st production batch) had numerious QC probs ranging from popping out interior plastic parts, leaking front absorber, warped disc rotors and even water leaks! WTF?????
The worse was warped disc rotors, it took the service centre more than 3 weeks to replace it citing lack of spare parts.

i dont own a proton, but a continental. to be honest, my proton ownership experience has more or less been the same as my conti experience. I have had very little problems despite piling on lots of mileage, and hard driving. In short, it has been utterly reliable.
I believe for all the horror stories, and the bad experiences we read on the forum, there are also the silent majority who are ‘content and happy’ with their proton. This to me, is the same of all car brands.
end of the day, we are not forced to buy a proton, and there are now many choices of cars out there(and many are buying others, which explains protons market share loss). Failing which, there is always the 2nd hand market which in todays environment, is a ‘buyers market’.
although i dont own a proton now, i still support proton. the new management has only been installed since 2006, less than 2 years now. To continue to blame the new guys for the problems of the past is totally unfair. In this short time, it seems like they have been very busy and not just sitting on their behinds and doing nothing, launch of this icare, and the china business, and 2 new models on the horizon proves this.

Free inspection = No servicing = No difference before and after
Anything that requires actual servicing would mean being directed to service centre or on the spot servicing.
Also going a known mechanic rather than the service center is cheaper + gets the job done.
“thanks for locating the problem, I’ll send it (to my mechanic) for servicing.” - likely scenario?
But good PR move by MD nontheless. How far will it go remains to be seen.

Wow, Paul, you see the pattern here? Everytime something about Proton comes up, the comments sure shoot sky high, you know what to blog more about next time
Btw, Aril, you should take a valium and calm down already, you’re getting nowhere this way. I’ve personally driven the first gen Sagas, later Sagas, even the latest one, and it all sucks, thought I’d say the older ones are truly better than the latest one in terms of interior quality and pedal placement. Apart from that, my dad used to have a 2.0D Wira, 1.6 Auto Wira too, the 1.6 sucked, guzzled fuel like cola, the 2.0D was only good cuz he swapped a Mitsubishi turbodiesel in; decent car though, not much kacau. Both Wiras have that stupid gap at topright of the glove compartment, just like every other Wira, Satria, Putra, Arena bla bla models, talk about manufacturing consistency.
Then came the 1.6 auto Waja, it sucked; sterring buttons snapping and breaking, shortplug power windows, aircon, audio, you get the idea, not more than one week after getting the car. As much as I hated the car I think it’s one of the best Protons apart from the Perdana V6, which was decent too (didn’t drive it, rode in it quite a bit though). Then came the Gen2, rode and drove a friend’s one a bit; it’s cramped, and the rear wheel mirror vibrates so much you can’t see properly, heck even the aircon and power window still malfunctions occasionally, this coming from 4 different owners of Gen2s I know.
So yea, I’ve driven quite a number of Protons for considerable amount of time, and a number of other similar cars, Japanese, continentals, enough for me to make fair comparisons. You say you get what you pay for, yea the car’s cheap, but total in the repair costs, time wasted, frustration etc etc; Protons are just so not worth it sometimes, depending on your luck. You might be lucky while all the cars I’ve driven just downright hate my fugly face, I donno *shrugs*
It’s good you have strong faith in our national automaker but you should not expect the same out of everybody, so be cool. You have a right to rant and so do they.

holla people
I have read alot of comments and some comments are so irritating. I guess we need to bear in mind that this is an automotive blog and we mean to talk about cars and stuff related to that. Why do we need to talk about leaving this country if we don’t like local products, surrender your nationality and shit like that? And why do we need to talk about the history of our ancestors?
We are all Malaysians and I believe we all love this country and here on the net we talk freely about auto industry and on this issue on Proton i.Care, we have different opinions. Don’t let our different opinions consume our emotion, I mean we may have different opinions but why do we need to use harsh words towards anyone? Lay down your opinions, and some of you don’t agree, fine with it; if u agree, fine with it too. Why ask the disagrees to leave this country. Haiiyyaaa that’s plain stupid and ignorant.
I don’t think Paul like us to be like this too.
I don’t take side but as a proton user myself, I have experienced bad defective product and then bad services (and as I’m not an angel, I’m so pissed off with proton cause they let me and other Malaysians down!) SO I’m expecting the i.Care to perform, or it will end up like the national football team playing at the AFC Cup lol. And that’s a challenge, see… I still have hope on proton eh lol.

Basically I visited P1 SC within warranty period only, later go to Ah Beng workshop for service. This is because most of P1 (at least 2 year ago) were suck! Apart from waiting for at least half day, they just replace everything as follow “standard service procedure - either minor or major service”. For Ah Beng, they just change parts that necessary to be replace!

I think it may give the wrong idea to the public. They might think free inspection may also include free servicing. I can imagine tight income groups that drives 10yr++ p1 cars flooding for the free inspection.
Kinda reminds me of this Joke:
there is a barber shop in new york and the barber there works for charity.
one florist came for a haircut and when she wanted to pay the barber, the barber refused saying he’s doing charity - the florist walks off happy. The next day the barber saw infront of his shop a thank you note and a dozen flowers.
next a policeman came for a cut. same thing the barber din take his money and police walk off happy. next day barber saw a thank you note and a dozen donuts.
next came a malaysian who came for a cut too. same same again no need pay then he walk off super happy.
guess what the barber saw next day? a dozen malaysia waiting outside for a free haircut too.

So Aril my friend I wish you luck supporting this junk. I dunno when reality will ever catch up with you. I dont think your argument holds up, even with the new management has the car been more competitive has quality improved.
China is producing hydrogen engines (refer to previous posting) what are we producing 20 yr old cars.
Things wont change, please dont expect people to believe they will.We all have our opinions !

When I was in Secondary School during the 80s, it was a glorious era for our nation when we can proudly tell the world we are able to produce our own cars, visa vi, Proton Isawa 1.3, except for the engine we bought over from Mitsubishi, Japan. Malaysian were very supportive back then, saving all money, tigthening belt and spending less just to come up with monthly car instalment. Proton was dominating and sweeping car martket like hurricane, none of the imported cars survived, not even the famous Japanese cars. I told myself back then, when I grow up I must buy myself one of the Proton.20 years later, I got educated and developed a sense of logical self-awareness and independent mind thinking. All of us agree that our G is imposing artificially high import duties on imported car to protect local car makers, visa vi, Proton. Yes, G used to told us that automotive industry requires heavy and capital investment and such infant industry requires protective national policy to grow. Fine. 20 years. Look at our poor Proton. Crawling with political cronies, victimizing consumers at the expense of majority Malaysian. Enough is enough. Billions of money went into cronies pocket. With its poorly built and over-priced materials, our proud Proton Iswara remains as carburated, radio player, even thinner hulk, not durable, high fuel cunsumption, guaranteed broke-down power window and basically only facelift after 20 years? Well, the one and only good about Proton Iswara is its always coolest air-conditioner.Okay, Proton comes up with many models since then. How many did we export to oversea? Ten thousand in 20 years? Well, the typical problems are poor materials quality supplied and poorly built. Why materials supplied are poor? It is so obvious that the so called Bxxxxxxxx vendors, visa vi, cronies, subcontract it to another supplier and profit from both ends, i.e. its suppliers and Proton. Imagine that an oil tank that cost only RM80 is sold at RM300 to Proton. Why Proton claims that it cannot lower it costs anymore? Because they are feeding those cronies! And the even sweeter thing is all this are legal and protected by our beloved G to encourage Bxxxxxxxx entrepreneurship! As long as there is Proton, Malaysian will forced to buy most expensive car in the world. Put aside patriotisme (because there are many ways to express patriotisme, for example paying tax. Do you pay tax?), if view Proton solely as a commercial basis business, frankly speaking it is a total failure. Even now with slightly liberated New Automotive Policy (NAP), Proton is dying, what do you expect it to face the free and open car market from its ASEAN countries?Answer is plain: Immediate closure. When bashing and protecting Proton, please read through my above comments. Put aside racism and emotion, you will find sense and sensibility in between. Please, I beg all of you.

I-care..U-care..Who-care..everybody care..Well personally think, no harm for Proton to come out with this new approach. At least they initiate some moves. Whether it’s a good move or not, we’ll see.
Usually when it comes to this kind of business, you do not have to wait long. Just take 3 months to see the outcome, whether it turns out to be good or a failure.

@neo2Your story is heard by the new management, especially the MD Syed Zainal. Yes, it sounds lame to “give them another chance”, but you can definitely see he’s doing something to survive as a “proper” business entity, rather than to enrich cronies all the time and shake his legs in the office, unless of course, if the “invisible hands” decided to make a move, in which he’ll be forced to sit silently. So really, it’s ok if you don’t want to hv faith in them anymore, bt for the others who still do, what grudge do u hv against us? Things are changing in Proton, that is undeniable, so it is partly up to us to let their effort be a success, while u can just go ahead do w/e u want wit ur lovely Toyota/Honda/Merc/BMW.
@ArilI doubt the cronies are all dead yet. They will always be around so long the “invisible hands” are there within Proton’s share. For that, it is extremely important for the Khazanah-VW to be a success. Oni the Germans hv enough discipline to make those cronies wet their pants IMHO. And buzz off for good.

@ Aril - My mum bought Proton Iswara 1.3 few years, the power window only changed once, that’s considered lucky according to the foreman. The foreman told me that the new sporty Iswara batch is problematic. My mum’s Iswara went through overhaul twice because of lubricant leakage. I hope yours one does not give you much problem after 5, 7 years? An ex-Proton salesman told me that Proton cars produced between year 2000 to 2006 will have more and more problems as cronies were sucking as much as they could before leave it to our beloved G to send for ER, like MAS eh?I am not against Proton. I used to but now I am calm. I notice that now Proton actually is striving to win back its customers. But, sigh …, like I said, those who had a Proton before and spent a lot to repair it even before the 9 years loan instalments had swore with their hard-earned money never to buy a Proton again, ever. In business world, do you know that it is very costly to attract a new customer but it is even more costly to retain same customer?I have went through Proton website, noticing some of the models now comes with ABS and dual air bags. For example, Waja 1.6 Premium is fitted with standard ABS and dual air bags, manual is less than RM60k. Here is some positive signs shown by Proton. Model like Gen2, Neo Satria, Savvy AMT, all high line also come with optional ABS and air bags.I guess Proton now realises that safety features no longer luxurous in Proton cars when Malaysian actually can afford it and willing to fork out few thousand just to secure our petty life. It’s like buying insurance, ABS and air bags does not give you the right to speed but at least driver could avoid fatal head on colllision, especially during rainy days.I am not buying Proton despite all my above positive comments because I am a practical man and to be practical, now is not the good time to “try” Proton car, especially with 7, 9 years loan. Given time, I bet Proton will rise from ashes and it shall win back the heart of Malaysian. 3, 5 years, may be? Who knows? If the Proton MD is ever bother to look at my opinions, keep doing the current good jobs now and let business goes back to business. Proton might one day and shall be the major automotive player in the world car maker market, not just “Juara Kampung” that is happening now. National football team is an example. Please, Malaysian, face your reality, don’t try to booast around when you are not the best. We have our strong traits, but booasting and always compare ourselves with lesser men or countries is shameful. Please always compare with those that is better than ours, Proton should not only try to overtake P2, instead it should aim to overtake Japanese(Toyota + UMW)! Here, right here at our backyard and at this very moment! Yes, Proton you can!I wish all the best, Proton! Malaysia Boleh!

FYI,
Proton Gen.2 sedan will be launch on 15th August this year but you can start booking from 22nd July onwards.
If i’m not mistaken the price will be around rm46k for 1.3l up to 54k for 1.6l. No CPS yet as claim by the promoter. End of the year or perhaps next year. As for BLM, he said next year. Sigh…

Proton Gen.2 sedan… i hope they change everything from top to bottom and have a fresh look. Or else it might as well consider as face lift. Gen2 sales already not so good lioa… if only minor changes, don understand the point of launching this sedan Gen2. it will be the same like extend the front of a Juara to look like a Wish and sell as Juara MPV…
remember Proton Arena? just cut and paste and become Pick Up Truck… then everything is the same… engine, dash board, gear box…. etc.
Proton Gen.2 sedan MUST have a fresh look… else the fate is the same as current Gen2

no point for proton to continue to struggle, they will never make it. the front runners have improved in all segments of the vehicle market and have already expanded into proton’s market (i.e the cheap and nasty cars for 2nd and third world countries) and china is also filling the gaps. its futile at this point.

Erm.. Lets put it this way. It is good to launch this i-care campaign. But are the employees giving full support to the campaign. I am driving a gen-2 1.6. For over a year, I’ve sent the car to the Center Of Excellence in Subang to warranty my car 6 times in a year. I’ve known 1 attendant who is very very friendly and helpful. But the quality of the car is not good. Till today, the main problem of my car is the rattling sound found behind my car. They tried tp rectify for me. But still the same. And when i send the car for this problem again, the attendant is not free and i was passed to sumone else. Oh god, this fella was rude and scolding me sarcastically and think that he is hell of the great and the ‘Tidak Apa’ issue came back to me. So, i would suggest Proton to rectify the Quality Control of the car and the employee’s attitude first before doing something else as these are the things that affects your company badly, Reallly very badly.

Today i called up to i care center regarding servicing problem.Refer to servicing book after 3rd time servicing, the subsequence servicing is 10000km. But do not know “Why” the service center always ask for servicing after 5000km ??? I ask them, the book is show after 10000km for service why center always request for 5000km. The answer is ” The engine oil is normal one and better 5000km for servicing”.Question 1: Normal engine oil charge RM93.00 ( check with Shell station ,shell normal engine oil only sell RM63.00 and semi synthetic engine oil only sell RM93 for 10000km ). Why proton service center charge RM93 but ask for 5000km servicing ?? If normal engine oil used for the car, why charge so expansive ?? any special …Question 2:i.care center must serve customer more professonal in term of answer customer.. not only said ” don’t know” must ask service center before servicing … and i.care center must wrote down all the customer concern and feedback the problem to factory..
